Objective:

Collect data to update the Spring Rate Prediction Program so it can be used for additional materials and types of bellows.

Process:

• Write statement of work to be sent to the software company that would actually be updating the program

• Communicate with manufacturing floor to collect scrap bellows for testing that were still deemed reliable in terms of spring rate

• Used Instron machine to independently test bellows for spring rate

• Clearly document results

• Analyze data in Minitab to further understand the consistency and reliability of spring rate in bellows

 

Skills Gained & Lessons Learned:

• Clearly define objective before starting

• Write official documents that are clear and thorough

• Understand manufacturing and quality process in order to get test samples

• Take initiative to get tasks done
